Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of Distal Humerus Fractures
The goal in the management of distal humerus fractures is to obtain rigid internal fixation that allows immediate rehabilitation of the extremity. The advent of anatomic plating systems as well a systematic approach to these injuries facilitates these goals. This article outlines our approach to these complex problems from injury through rehabilitation.
متن کاملOpen reduction and internal fixation of a distal clavicle fracture using a clavicle hook plate
Historically, fractures of the clavicle have been treated nonoperatively. However, it is becoming much more common for orthopedic surgeons to treat clavicle fractures with open reduction and internal fixation-particularly fractures of the lateral clavicle with high rates of nonunion, such as the Neer type II. Several techniques and devices are currently being used for clavicle fixation. We pres...
متن کاملOpen reduction and internal fixation compared to closed reduction and external fixation in distal radial fractures
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In unstable distal radial fractures that are impossible to reduce or to maintain in reduced position, the treatment of choice is operation. The type of operation and the choice of implant, however, is a matter of discussion. Our aim was to investigate whether open reduction and internal fixation would produce a better result than traditional external fixation. METHODS 5...
متن کاملRETRACTION: Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of Displaced Clavicle Fractures in Adolescents
The literature available on patient oriented outcomes of operative management for clavicle fractures in adolescents is fairly limited. The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential of open reduction and internal fixation for displaced mid-shaft clavicle fractures in adolescent patients. We reviewed our series of surgical cases performed in 19 adolescents (mean age: 14.6 years) with dis...
متن کاملThe functional outcome of surgically treated unstable pelvic ring fractures by open reduction, internal fixation
Abstract Background: Unstable Pelvic fracture, a result of high energy antero-posterior compression injury, has been managed based on internal fixation and open reduction. The mode of fixation in Unstable Pelvic fracture has, however, been a subject of controversy and some authors have proposed a need to address the issue of partial breach of the pelvic ring elements in these injuries. This st...
